Reply:RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated digital content, such as blogs, news feeds or podcasts.

Users of RSS content use programs called feed 'readers' or 'aggregators': the user 'subscribes' to a feed by supplying to their reader a link to the feed; the reader can then check the user's subscribed feeds to see if any of those feeds have new content since the last time it checked, and if so, retrieve that content and present it to the user.

The initials "RSS" are variously used to refer to the following standards:

Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)

Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91, RSS 1.0)

RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0)

RSS formats are specified in XML (a generic specification for data formats). RSS delivers its information as an XML file called an "RSS feed", "webfeed", "RSS stream", or "RSS channel".

Reply:Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a format mainly for syndicating news and personal weblogs. When you click All RSS feeds in the new Beta version you will see a list of news stories from different sources. You can also add more sites to the list.

%26lt;description%26gt;RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checkins, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way. RSS-aware programs called news aggregators are popular in the weblogging community. Many weblogs make content available in RSS. A news aggregator can help you keep up with all your favorite weblogs by checking their RSS feeds and displaying new items from each of them.%26lt;/description%26gt;

Reply:Really Simple Syndication. / Rich Site Summary.
Reply:format for syndicating news and downloading news to the server for example yahoo answer use rss for new questions posted
Reply:There was a similar question asked a couple of days ago I answered. The link is below.

Another option is a RSS help page I put together for some of our users. It has links to some online demos on how to use feed readers and adding RSS to your My Yahoo! pages.
Reply:Really Simple Syndication--using a news aggregator (one of which is built into some newer Web browsers) you can actually have news sent to you about subjects that interest you most. Have a favorite sports team? RSS will send you the latest news as it is released. Have a blog you like to read? RSS allows you to have the latest blog entry sent to you as soon as the blogger posts it. I use it all the time and love it. My aggregator sits on my desktop and very inconspicuously runs all the time and pops up (not in an annoying way) when news comes out.
