What is RSS and what is a Feeder?

Ok I have this website I launched recently for the field of Bioinformatics. I plan to design a page only for News and Events in Bioinformatics. What do I need to get this started? Why do I need a Reader and RSS to get this working? I need the news to be directly loaded on to my webpages rather then my Mailbox. I got here a list of Readers that can used (link: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Software/I...

Can anyone tell me which is the best? Ofcourse, my funds are non existent at the moment, so only free Readers I am looking for. Thanks in advance for your help!

What is RSS and what is a Feeder?
RSS is Real Simple Syndication - it allows you to subscribe to news / information sources and delivers them in a very simple manner.

A feeder (or feed reader) is an application that reads RSS feeds and usually compiles them into some kind of organised presentation. I highly recommend PageFlakes because it's super flexible and you can view it anywhere because it's online. [ http://www.pageflakes.com ]
Reply:I use "Brief" a Firefox extension as Feedreader and love it:

But if you don`t want to install software at all you can also use the Google Reader:

most browsers have them as a widget or add on
